It's been a while....

It's been a while since I blogged! Not because I didn't want to, had writer's block or anything like that. It's just been so busy that finding time was hard. We had a fantastic summer, the majority of which was spent outdoors. Climbing featured highly on the agenda, as did camping.

Here's a quick catch up in pictures....

Climbing....

Watching wildlife....

More climbing.....

Examining a millipede

We'd really like to build something like this in our garden.

Water play

...and back to climbing!

This was so fascinating up close, you could clearly see the hexagonal structure of each cell. Amazing!

We live in a beautiful part of the country, there are just so many nice places to visit.

....and more climbing!

Team Work

A lazy sunday spent wandering, or racing if you are 6, around our local National Trust property.

Can you spot the children?

Things that make me smile...

The big boy's enthusiasm for drumming. He doesn't just enjoy it, he wholeheartedly adores it, and enthuses about it every Wednesday after school. It is so lovely to see his joy when he finds something that he really loves to do. It made me smile to see his first piece of 'music' brought home to practise.

Beautiful flowers always make me smile.

Recognition. It always makes me smile when one of my children's efforts are recognised. I love these bright and happy notes home.

The Waldorf Homeschool Handbook

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately. Thinking, reading, mulling things over.... Top of my list of books to get hold of is this one http://www.themagiconions.com/2014/01/waldorf-homeschool-handbook-discovering-waldorf.html#comment-39659  We like to take inspiration from lots of sources. I love the seasonal influence on the Steiner/Waldorf style, as well as the role of natural play, so am looking forward to learning more!
